  ASSIGNMENT
              CHAPTER REVIEW 1 (page 42-43)

1 .      Why Is Computer Literacy Vital in Today’s World?
Computer literacy is something many of us take for granted. Because people in the world relies that they using computer for doing their activity every day, so they must known computer literacy, because computer literacy is the knowledge so we have a ability to use the computers and technology efficiently other source say that computer literacy,  involves having current knowledge and understanding of computers and their uses that very useful to bring them to be better in using technology, especially computer.

       2. What Is a Computer, and What Is the Relationship between Data and Information?
computer is an electronic device that  or  a programmable machine responds to a specific set of instructions in a well-defined manner and it can execute a prerecorded list of instructions (a program) and it is operating under the control of instructions stored that can accept data, process the data after that it produce results of that data and it will stored the process results in computer memory ROM and it can be use for our future.
DATA is Raw and have unorganized fact that need to be processed or Data is collection of unprocessed items, and they will be processed later .  Information is data that has been processed and it result is context that meaningful and useful for people.

3.      List and Describe the Five Components of a Computer!

The electric, electronic, and mechanical components of a computer, or hardware, include:
- Input device
is any peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment) used to input data to computer . in simple answer we can say that any machine that feeds data into a computer.
Example :
     - keyboard
     - mouse
     - smart cards,
     - image catchers among
     - biometric scanners

- Output device
is any piece of computer hardware equipment used to communicate the results of data processing carried out by an information processing system (such as a computer) so human can see or see, in simple way we can say output device is  machine or tools capable of representing information from a example :Monitors,Printers,Plotter, Voice Output Devices,Modems

- system unit
also known as a "tower" or "chassis," is the main part of a desktop computer that contains the electronic components of a computer that are used to process data.
example : motherboard, CPU, RAM, ROM
- store device
in charge to stores data, records and/or retrieves items.
- communication device
is an hardware designed to send ant d receive data, information and instruction from one computer to another.

4. What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages That Users Experience When Working with Computers?

there are many advantages that users experience when working with computer
example : computers can now make many well-informed decisions that managers or office workers may deem unnecessary for a human to make. computer help us to organize our  data and information faster and more appropriate than ordinary human and its fast perfomance so human can get a high cost.
Computer have a disadvantages Disadvantages of computers relate to health risks, the violation of privacy, public safety, the impact on the labor force, and the impact on the environment.

5. What is network and what are it's Benefit?
A network is a group consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources (such as printers and CDs), exchange files, or allow electronic communications. The computers on a network may be linked through cables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light beams.
the benefits of network that we can share a data to other  easy because it can share only use a satellites, telephone lines, radio waves and others.because nowdays time is money so we can save our time because it easy and very fast to do or share something.

6. How Are the Internet and world wide web used?
The Internet is a massive network of networks, a networking infrastructure. It connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which any computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the Internet. The World Wide Web, or simply Web, is a way of accessing information over the medium of the Internet. It is an information-sharing model that is built on top of the Internet. The Web uses the HTTP protocol, only one of the languages spoken over the Internet, to transmit data. Web services, which use HTTP to allow applications to communicate in order to exchange business logic, use the the Web to share information. Web documents also contain graphics, sounds, text and video.

7. How is system software difference from application software?
application software is all the computer software that causes a computer to perform useful tasks (compare with computer viruses) beyond the running of the computer itself. Even though system software is the system software operates the computers hardware and provides a platform for running the application software, is any computer software which manages and controls computer hardware so that application software can perform a task. Operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X or Linux, are prominent examples of system software.

8. what Are the Differences among the Types, Sizes, and Functions in the Following Categories: Personal Computers (Desktop), Mobile Computers and Mobil devices, Game Consoles, Servers, Mainframes, Supercomputers, and Embedded Computers ?

- A personal computer is a computer that can perform all of its input, processing, output, and storage activities by itself.
- A mobile computer is a personal computer you can carry from place to place, and a mobile device is a computing device small enough to hold in your hand.
- A game console is a mobile computing device designed for single-player or multiplayer for video games.
-  A server controls access to the hardware, software, and other resources on a network and provides a centralized storage area for programs, data, and information.
-  A mainframe is a large, expensive, powerful computer that can handle hundreds or thousands of connected users simultaneously and can store tremendous amounts of data, instructions, and information.
- A supercomputer is the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive computer and is used for applications requiring complex, sophisticated mathematical calculations.
-  An embedded computer is a special-purpose computer that functions as a component in a larger product.

9.   What Is the Role of Each Element in an Information System?

    -  hardware is integral to an information system. Depending on the scale of this infrastructure, hardware could be just one PC in a modest setup, or hundreds in other cases. All of the other physical pieces of equipment used to make it work, such as Internet routers for example, are also included in this element.
      - Software : The term software refers to computer programs and the manuals (if any) that support them. Computer programs are machine-readable instructions that direct the circuitry within the hardware parts of the Computer Based Information System (CBIS) to function in ways that produce useful information from data. Programs are generally stored on some input / output medium, often a disk or tape.
      - data  is a case Raw and have unorganized fact that need to be processed or Data is collection of unprocessed items, and they will be processed later.
      -  People : who invest in research and development to create new ways for information systems to be implemented like programer

10. How do the various type of computer users interact with computer ?

there many various type of computer user to interact with computer, for example home user use computer for playing game or do something homework but it difference with office user they use computer for save a data make a data for their job and get money from that, and they use in big scale. An enterprise user works in or interacts with a companywith many employees and uses a computer andcomputer network that processes high volumesof transactions in a single day.
11. How does society use computers in education, finance, government, health care, sciene, publishing, travel, and manufacturing?
In education, student, lecture and all people  use computer to access the learning site or it can support their study. In finance, the banker or company using computer to access online banking and online investing or to manage a company money . Government use computers to provide citizenswith up-to-date information to society about people or to save data and the government employee use computer to support their work. In health care, computer used to maintaining, monitoring and checking patient condition, assist with medical tests and research, correspond with patient information , provide greater precision during operations, and as implants. In science, people, professor, researcher use computers to find  analyzing and modeling data and also to share data or their research to people in the world so they  can known and study it . In publishing, people use computers to design something and publish a new thing. For travel, many traveler use computers to search place that they want to go using an online navigation system that help people travel more quickly and safely. In manufacturing, people use computer-aided manufacturing to assist with manufacturing processes.
